Graphics for Health

Powerful than any written or spoken word, a picture can convey a feeling, a thought, or an idea to its viewers effectively. Hence, it should not come as a surprise when images are popular tools for business, particularly in advertising. As a matter of fact, images are used in almost all facets of society, not just in business. And one of those sectors, wherein the power of pictures makes a significant impact on people is in the healthcare industry. It is so powerful that even a simple image depicting a cigarette printed behind the "No" symbol will make people think twice about lighting their cigarettes in public places and healthcare facilities.

Graphical images have varied uses in healthcare. They are also an important tool in promoting public health. In the UK, for instance, the government created a resolution directing the use of graphic images in cigarette packs to warn people about the dangers of smoking. Meanwhile in the United States, graphic images were used in one state to encourage people to end abortion. Other signs may also be used in hospitals and healthcare establishments in order to inform people that certain procedures are going on so that they would refrain from entering the rooms wherein doctors or technicians may be working.
